Our Story
Welcome to SANT Language Studio!
We created SANT because we believe language learning should feel natural, meaningful, and above all, taught well. We are Carolina Santa Maria and Ofelia Santos, and between us we bring decades of experience in education, international affairs, and curriculum development to the programs we have built here.
Carolina Santa María
Born and raised in Medellín, Colombia, Carolina also lived in Mexico for five years before building over 15 years of global experience, including 12 years at the Organization of American States managing international committees and traveling extensively throughout the Americas. She has served as a multilingual interpreter for Fairfax County Public Schools and has taught Middle School Spanish at a leading independent school in Northern Virginia for over three years. She holds a BA in International Business from EAFIT University and an MA in International Affairs with a concentration in Conflict Resolution from The George Washington University.
Ofelia Santos
Born in Louisiana and raised globally in Athens, Algiers, Barcelona, Toronto, and the Washington DC area, Ofelia is the daughter of an American diplomat who is Cuban and a Spanish mother. She brings over a decade of teaching experience at leading independent schools in the Washington DC area and speaks conversational French from her years living abroad. Her professional background also includes work as a freelance translator/interpreter, proposal development, marketing and project management on Department of State contracts, and restaurant management. She holds a BS in Communications and an MEd in Instructional Technology from the University of Maryland.
Why SANT?
We are selective about who teaches at SANT. Every instructor is carefully vetted, background checked, and held to a clear standard: a minimum of a bachelor's degree and either native fluency or an exceptional command of the languages they teach, rooted in deep immersive experience in the cultures and communities where those languages are spoken. Our curriculum is developed by educators with advanced degrees in education and international affairs, grounded in communicative language teaching methodology, and designed to build real, lasting fluency.
Currently offering Spanish instruction, with additional languages launching soon.
