What Level Am I?

Not sure where to start? This quick guide will help you find your level.

If you feel you have some knowledge of the language you want to study and are interested in a level higher than Novice, we are happy to give you a free placement test to help find the right starting point for you.

If any of the Novice criteria below sound like you, you do not need to take this test. Just let us know and we will enroll you directly in one of our beginner programs.

You may be Novice if:

• The language still feels new to you, even if you have picked up a few words here and there.

• Any travel or exposure you have had has been brief.

• You would describe yourself as just starting out.

You may be Intermediate if:

• You can hold a simple conversation and recognize everyday vocabulary, but talking about the past still trips you up.

• You have spent a stretch of time (a month or more) immersed in the language.

• You would describe yourself as solid but not yet fluent.

You may be Advanced if:

• You can express yourself across different tenses, including narrating past events.

• You have lived somewhere the language is spoken for six months or longer.

• You would describe yourself as close to fluent.
